At Dominion Dental Spa, we understand that emergencies happen. We also know how serious dental emergencies can be. Some are even life threatening. Whether you have been our loyal patient for years or have never set foot in our doors, we are here for you.
Our doctors set aside specific time each day in order to meet the needs of any dental emergencies that arise. When you have an emergency, we guarantee that we will see you the same day you call.
Common dental emergencies include:
- Dental abscess – If an infection in or around a tooth begins to spread, you will notice swelling near the problem area. Any swelling is an emergency! It is imperative that you see a dentist so that the infection can be diagnosed and treated with prescription antibiotics as soon as possible.
- Toothache – We consider pain to be an emergency. If you are suffering from toothache pain that includes throbbing or shooting pain, call us as soon as possible. In many instances, a toothache is the precursor to an abscess.
- Injury – People of all ages suffer injuries to the teeth and jaws. If you or your child has had an accident affecting the teeth, gums or jaws, your dentist should evaluate the area as soon as possible. Injuries, which cause bleeding gums, lacerations to the lips, cheeks or tongue, chipped or broken teeth, or teeth that have been knocked out, are all emergencies! If a tooth is knocked out, bring all pieces of the tooth with you to the dentist.

- iTero Element intraoral scanner – Three-dimensional intraoral scanning has taken the place of traditional gooey dental impressions! Now we can capture an exact digital replica of your teeth and the way they bite together with the iTero scanner. This technology uses 3D spatial technology to knit together thousands of tiny photos in order to create a digital model that is accurate and detailed.
This is great for patients who:- Have a strong gag reflex
- Have difficulty opening their mouths for long periods of time
- Feel claustrophobic
- Intraoral camera – A picture is worth a thousand words! Intraoral cameras are indispensable in today’s practice of dentistry. This technology allows us to take a close-up photo of small details in your mouth. We are able to show you signs of cavities, tooth fractures, gum disease, teeth grinding, and soft tissue disorders. At Dominion Dental Spa, our relationships are based on trust. We are committed to building that trust by educating all of our patients about the state of their smiles. - Digital X-Rays – Dental x-rays are essential in accurate diagnosis and early detection of dental problems. New digital x-ray technology makes x-rays safer than ever before. Digital x-rays require less radiation and give more information. Your dentist is able to zoom in, change contrast, and increase the definition of an image without any additional exposure to the patient. They are also much faster to process, which reduces the time you spend in the dental chair!
- Electrical Handpiece (drill) – We are fully aware that no one likes the sound and/or feel of a dental drill. In order to reduce the anxiety from the sounds and feels of dental treatment, we use electrical dental handpieces for our procedures. Electrical handpieces make your experience more comfortable in three ways:
- They do not produce the same high-pitched sound of traditional dental drills. Electrical handpieces are much quieter.
- They work faster, so you can spend less time in the dental chair.
- Electrical hand pieces produce less vibration, so you do not feel as much movement or shaking while the work is being completed.

- Massaging and Heating Dental Chairs – We know the anxieties associate with dental work, and we want the dental chair to be as comfortable as possible. This is why we have invested in the best, most comfortable operatory chairs available. Our chairs have the options for both massaging and heating. No more freezing in the cold dental office!
- Coffee bar– Whether you are early to your appointment or waiting on a family member, our coffee bar ensures that you will have a chance to sit back and relax with a hot drink while you wait.
- Free WiFi– If you would like to use any free time to work or just browse social media, our free WiFi network will keep you connected. We love it when our patients check-in on Facebook or tweet a picture from the dental chair!
- Overhead TVs with Netflix and Bluetooth Personalized Headsets – Some dental procedures can be lengthy. One way we help our patients endure long visits without getting bored is through our mounted televisions. Even though you need to lay still, your mind will be engaged by your favorite Netflix series that you can watch overhead. Don’t worry! Our dentists will not be distracted because you will listen via Bluetooth headphones or your own headsets if you prefer.
- Neck pillows– Our dental chairs are as comfortable as can be. We recognize that some patients need a little extra support for chronic neck pain or a recent injury. For added comfort, a neck pillow can keep your neck warm and relaxed.
- Heated warm towels – In keeping with our name, we want you to feel like you are in a spa atmosphere. Heated towels can warm, soothe, and comfort you as you have your dental work performed.
