Dominion Dental Spa: Diagnostic & Preventive

At Dominion Dental Spa, we believe in the power of prevention!  In order to offer specific preventive services based on each person’s needs, we must gather as much information about your mouth, teeth and gums as possible.  This information gathering is diagnostic.

Diagnostic Services

In dentistry, there is a specific category of procedures classified as diagnostic.  This category includes all exams, tests, screenings, and x-rays.  The check-up you have at a teeth cleaning appointment is diagnostic.  The small x-rays we take to have a close up view of the teeth and bone is diagnostic.

We gather all of the necessary information about your teeth and gums in order to diagnose any problems that may be present.  By diagnosing the current state of your mouth, we can offer our own preventive services and give you tips to be preventive at home.

Preventive Services

Once we have diagnosed your specific areas of concern and risk, we will recommend various preventive services.  Our goal is giving you every tool you need to prevent dental disease.  Preventive dentistry includes procedures like:

  • Professional Teeth Cleanings – Removing plaque and tartar buildup on a consistent basis lowers your risk for cavities and gum disease.
  • Fluoride Treatments – Professional fluoride treatments strengthen enamel to resist cavities and relieve tooth sensitivity.
  • Dental Sealants – These are not just for kids!  Sealants fill in and seal off the grooves in the biting surfaces of teeth that are prone to cavities.
  • Nutritional Counseling – We want you to make food and drink choices that are healthy for your teeth, with as little risk for cavities and acid erosion as possible.
  • Oral Hygiene Instructions – Everyone can improve the way they care for their teeth.  We have techniques to show you for better home care.
  • Tobacco Counseling – Do you need help quitting?  We support your efforts and can put you on the right track.  Tobacco dangerously increases your risk for developing oral cancer.  Quit today!
